PRACTICAL GUIDE

Plan an RCM outsourcing transition

Make the handoff specific before moving the workload.

Write the scope

Document the queues, tasks, systems, and time periods included in the engagement. Clarify whether existing backlog is included and which work remains internal. Use examples to define the difference between a completed task and one awaiting another team.

Set escalation paths

Give both teams named contacts and a shared process for blockers. Define how urgent issues are identified and how unresolved work is reported. Agree on the information needed for an escalation so requests do not bounce back and forth.

Start with a controlled batch

Validate access and outputs using a limited workload. Review results together and record any changes to the operating process. Expand volume only after both teams understand the handoff, reporting, and exception process.
